Clearing Out Your Closet
So here’s the easy part; taking everything out of your closet. This should be a pretty easy task to do, but as you begin taking every tiny and big item from your closet. I want you to start thinking about how you’re going to organize and where, or how you’re going to place particular types of items. Also if you’re feeling a little bit extra today. What colors and style are you going, for example, a chic minimalist closet.
All of this should go into consideration in creating the best atmosphere, not for your clothes, but you. It’s nothing like having a fresh start, so you won’t be too overwhelmed with all those piles in your closet. Therefore, you can evaluate each piece of clothing. If it does get a bit overwhelming just keep in mind this is all going to benefit you in the long run.
Get Creative And Grab Some Bins
After you figured out how you want your wardrobe to look. It’s time to put some more work into it. This is one of the funniest tasks I have to say. And BYE BYE old cupboards and bags. Therefore, the clothes you decided to keep whether it was seasonal or no you will have someplace to put them.
Before you go crazy and throw every item into a newly designed bin. And think everything is going to start falling into place. So hold it right there. You need to grab some trash bags, paper, and tape. So you can label what each item is to you and what you’re going to do with it. This will lead to my final tip for you.
Rules For Cleaning Out Your Closet
When it comes to figuring out what in the world you’re going to do with all your clothes. Three words should be roaming through your mind at this very moment donate, sell, or keep. You should not hang on to clothes that are too, small, unflattering, or have never seen the day of light. Other than the time you bought it for some odd reason you might’ve had.
Donate
Giving away something that you haven’t used in a long time, preferably a year or so Even if you already have an item that is quite similar to one another. It’s always a good idea to give it to someone who’s gonna use it. Honestly, what’s the point of having a shirt stuck in your closet you haven’t used yet. I like to say” someone’s trash is someone’s treasure”.
Sell
It’s time to think about a different perspective and if life gives you lemons you make money. Something like that; all I’m saying is if you have a dress that’s still in perfect condition why not make some money off it. Even if it does make you a few bucks. There are multiple ways you can go about this and one is selling it online or an app. Or either go to one of your local stores that would buy some of your clothing off your hands and. Give you a pretty penny for it.
This one does take time so if you have any extra to spend. Then this might be something that’s right up your alley.
Keep
Of course, keeping is an option too, especially if its an item that we will use. It is good to trash it when if its too damaged to repair. So it’s better now than later to trash what you should have done a while ago. When it comes to determining what item to keep try to prioritize what’s special or sentimental to you in any sort of way. Will make it way easy for you to organize what you kept.
Clean Your Closet Change Your Life
There’s a basic principle for when it comes from you cleaning out your closet. Have you ever heard this saying your room is how the mind is? Meaning if you have a messy closet, the same can go for your mind to an extent. Overall, nothing really bad comes from you being organized. Cause not knowing where something is; is not only time consuming, but also a way where you can lose money. Especially when you buy a second pair of pants since the first pair is stuck in that mess that you like to call a closet.

Thank you and being able to fit our clothes in one room is something I still struggle with from time to time.
I moved recently and i didn’t realize how much stuff I had in my closet! I donated and sold a lot of things. I always go by the rule of if it hasn’t been worn in a year, throw it out.
That’s good. It’s an excellent rule to go by 🙂
I definitely need to clean out my wardrobe for sure! I have so many clothes and outfits that I no longer wear!
I did a massive overhaul with my closet last year and got rid of nearly half of what was in there. However, it’s been quite some time since I’ve really gone through and determined what was necessary for me to keep. I’ll have to do it again soon!
I really need to do this! I just have SO many nice pieces, and getting them ready to sell is a chore. Much needed, though!
I’m actually pretty good at cleaning my closet. Twice a year I go through every piece in my closet and analyze everything it’s in there. I either have things to donate or to sell.
That sounds good. I’m glad that you already do this.
These are such great tips. I recently moved and it was so cathartic to go through all of my clothing and get rid of so many things. My closet is so organized now and I totally plan to keep it that way!
