Wash your pajamas instead of sleeping in dirt.
How often should I wash my pajamas? That’s a question that has been asked ever since pajamas became trendy outfit looks. Many of us have chosen to wear them around the house and in public. Have you ever seen someone wearing house slippers and pj’s to the supermarket? I sure did, but I can’t remember how many times. There are so many different types of sleepwear, from sweatpants, shorts, or dresses.

How Often To Wash Pajamas?
I often wash it every two days when it comes to my sleepwear, which isn’t too far from the recommendation. According to the Cleaning Institute, you should wash pajamas after 3 or 4 wears (if you shower before bed, you may get a few more wears before washing). With all that washing, you might come out better having multiple pairs of pj’s. So you won’t have to worry about what you’re going to wear to bed.
Importance Of Washing Clothes
“Pyjamas are against your skin. You shed skin cells at a vast rate all the time. They are full of microorganisms,” Professor Sally Bloomfield told Medical Daily from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. This is the reason why you should wash your sleepwear so frequently.
All the residue and dirt build-up do not necessarily mean that you will see it. Unless you were rolling in mud or happened to be a sweaty sleeper, however, if that isn’t the case, you should follow what the cleaning institute recommends. The naked eye doesn’t often see filth; unless you have some unique eye vision. That’s why many people assume they might be able to wash it right along with their weekly load. But if you happen to have only one pair of actual pajamas. I’m not talking about sweatpants either. Then, you might end up washing more than usual after reading this. Honestly, can you have a good night’s sleep knowing that they’re not clean?
How To Wash Pajamas
When washing ordinary pajamas, specifically cotton fabric, treat it like your usual wash load. It’s nothing too special about it. Meaning no handwashing here; all you need to do is put it into your washing machine. Determine the temperature you want to use according to the particular color. According to cleaning expert Susan Stocker, use hot water for light colors, especially dirty and exceptionally soft colors. The heat will scald the stains right out of those white items. Here is another tip you should know: the more you wear a piece of fabric, the more dirt builds up.

Good to know! I usually wash after every wear for tops but after every 2-3 wears for bottoms. I mix and match, so it just depends on the week! Helpful info in this post though. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting I never rewear pajamas. I didn’t ever even think about it! So interesting though
It’s so basic, but so few actually think about it 🙂
Ha! I definitely don’t wash mine every two times. I need to get better and maybe hit that 4 mark. 😉
I know so many people who have the same thought.
A friend of mine posted an Instagram poll asking how often people wash their pajamas, and I was shocked that the most people wore them 4+ times before washing! 2 wears before washing sounds more like it!
A lot of people I knew wore it 4 times or wash their pajamas within their weekly load.
Oh wow, this is so interesting! I definitely sleep in mine for a few wears before I wash…so maybe I need to get on this 2x schedule.
I used to wear it a few times, but now after finding out how dirty it can get. I’m officially here for 2 times.
