Every year millions of people have the idea of accomplishing their body image goals in a few months. Then ended up failing because of some unrealistic goals that revolved around restrictions. Let’s face it; if you had the chance to get fit without training, you’d grab on it ( be honest); who wouldn’t? However, it doesn’t happen that way, and staying active comes from hard work and self-discipline.
I want to help you meet your goals. Instead of punishing ourselves while trying to force ourselves with ridiculous restrictions, let’s shift that focus to when you feel good. Here are some top tips to help you stay motivated.
Plan In Advance.
Make a schedule with all your workouts and day-to-day stuff so they won’t collide. I’d recommend taking at least 30 minutes of your Sunday to write down your workout agenda as if it’s just as important as work and give it the same priority. This would make you more likely to stick to the routine.
Set Short Term, And Long Term Goals
You’re not going to achieve your fitness goals overnight, so don’t get frustrated and give up if your goals are too ambitious. Start simple and think about your long-term goals and how you will get there. Then use your short-term goals as part of the process. This will help you stay motivated because you would be more unlikely to feel disappointed since you’re trying to accomplish a more manageable goal in the short term.
Have Fun
Find something you enjoy; you don’t have to do something boring if running isn’t fun, then dance or take some karate classes. Almost all types of movements count- remember exercising is supposed to be interesting; then you’re more likely to keep going with the fitness program.
Train With A Friend
Everyone knows exercising with a friend is much better than doing it alone. Invite friends and head to the gym or play tennis. It’s a great way to stay fit and socialize. Chatting to a friend during workouts can help the time pass quickly, and bringing a buddy is a great way to keep you feeling engaged- even if it’s through an intense set of squats.
Give A Reward
After each exercise set, take time and feel good about what you did. Allowing yourself to feel proud would make you feel good about your actions. But it doesn’t always have to be an external reward. Why not physically? What I mean is to treat yourself to a new activewear outfit and be stylish.
Progress, Not Perfection
It’s normal not to be 100% perfect when exercising and eating. Honesty would probably drive you crazy if you did worry too much. Care about where you started and enjoy life while practicing healthier habits most of the time. Keep progress of your success, no matter how small or big; this can keep you motivated.
